LES HARRIS | KIWANIS CLUB OF DOWNTOWN SPRINGFIELD
The Downtown Kiwanis Club is a service organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Over the years I have experienced a wide range of professions that have brought me to where I am today. Early on, I learned hard work and dedication will keep you on a path of success. Excellent customer service, friendliness, and the ability to listen instead of speaking have served me well. From Assistant Store Manager at a lumber yard, to going into construction, concrete foundation work, then framing, trimming, and cabinet work, this laid a foundation for my success. I drove a delivery truck and ran it like I was the owner, from there I went on to become General Manager of a LTL Trucking Company, and helped build a Midwest carrier. I invested in and ran a BBQ Restaurant for seven years. Learning all aspects of the fast casual restaurant help me to operate a successful business. I share what I have learned over the years with young professionals whenever I can. I am by no means an expert, but If I can share some of my knowledge and experience to help others find an easier way, so be it! All of these experiences have helped guide me to where I am today.
I give back to our community through the DT Kiwanis Club of Springfield, Missouri. All we do is help children, and I have had the privilege of running the Kiwanis Baseball Camp in 2017, 2018, and 2019 This is a camp we put on for the Boys & Girls Club of Springfield, Missouri. This is just one project the DT Kiwanis is involved in. I have also been an ambassador for Harmony House and their iCare fundraising campaign since 2016. I am a strong advocate for the Grey Matters Fund of Southwest Missouri. Plus, I am the main caregiver to my elderly mother who has dementia.
